'Aren't these the shoes you wanted?' my sister commented, DM'ing me a photo of the Ultimate Fighting Championship star Conor McGregor on Instagram with a string of crying laughing face emojis. Zooming in, they were indeed the Gucci fuzzy trimmed loafers, I had saved in my Net-a-Porter wishlist, trying to justify their price tag with cost per wear and ignoring the fact that their  edging makes them highly unsuitable for my public transport lifestyle. An hour later, I found myself three months deep on McGregor's Instagram, literally speechless to discover that amongst the many topless shots of him working out, there also numerous photos of him posing in the punchiest of sartorial choices. From pink polka dot Loewe shirts to a full length white fuzzy Gucci coat fresh off the runway, when it comes to fashion McGregor does not shy away from making a statement.

On Saturday night, he takes on Floyd Mayweather in one of the most anticipated boxing matches in history. For McGregor AKA The Notorious, this will be his first professional boxing match, while it sees Mayweather coming out of retirement to take part. As part of the build-up, they've been on a four week promotional tour and while they've been attacking each other verbally and dominating news headlines about who is going to win, McGregor has been also packing some serious punches with his outfits too. With a penchant for fluro pink, clashing prints, and statement shoes, when it comes to style, trust me, having grown up in Ireland, McGregor is definitely not your typical Irish man. His choices are also garnering him some extra attention, which is surely, all part of his game plan to get in Mayweather's head. Which is why I can't wait to see what he chooses to wear to enter the ring on Saturday night for his ultimate peacocking moment. Here's why he's become my now not so secret style crush...

The Fact He Wears Givenchy To The Gym...

Forget old trackie bums and that t-shirt you were given at Fresher's Week, when it comes to gym-wear, McGregor takes to the term 'sportsluxe' to the extreme with jersey jogging bottoms and matching sweater from Givenchy. Never mind working-out the respective price tags of £755 and £1280 would be enough to get us in the ultimate sweat.

The Way He Is Actually Using Fashion As A Communication Tool...

On first glance, McGregor's suit that he chose to wear for his first press conference with Mayweather, looks like your average three piece suit. However, on closer inspection it turns out that those pinstripes are in fact, the words 'Fuck You' repeated again and again.
The Way He's Already Worn A Key-Trend For AW17...

In June McGregor posted this shot of himself in an Alexander McQueen jumper. Although based in Vegas where the average temperature is 32'C, we admire McGregor's dedication to start rocking knitwear, a key trend for autumn winter 2017 before anyone else.

The Way His Vegas Location Seems To Be Inspiring His Choices...

Scroll through his Insta and you'll see that recently McGregor has been wearing a lot of tropical prints, mainly palm trees. Is this a nod to his love of his new Vegas abode? Whatever, the reasoning it's so much fresher than wearing a nautical stripe on a seaside holiday.
His Love Of A Statement Pair Of Sunnies
Proving that Oakley shades are definitely for basic blokes only, McGregor favours a 1970's aviator style, with obvs Gucci being his brand of choice.
Those Printed Trousers...

Every style icon has their go-to pieces and McGregor is no different. Whilst, he used to favour a three-piece suit, lately, McGregor has been veering towards a snazzy printed trouser. LOVE!

His Zero-Fucks Given Attitude To Not Downplaying His Wealth...
Earning $27 million alone last year for his UFC wins, alongside $7 million for various endorsements, plus set to earn $75 million if he wins against Mayweather, McGregor is not shy about flaunting his wealth. Gucci has become his label of choice, for everything from those aforementioned loafers, to Bee embroidered trainers, silk shirts and trousers. Paying homage to Joe Frazier's choice of a red polo and white coat to face Muhammad Ali in 1974, McGregor wore a similar look fresh off Gucci's runway to a pre-fight press conference with his opponent Eddie Alvarez.
But his was his latest head-to-toe Gucci look to meet with Mayweather that really hammered home his 'look-at-me' attitude. Flaunting himself in a white fuzzy coat with snake embroidery that was fresh off the Gucci spring summer 2017 and with an estimated price tag of $50,000, he makes Jared Leto look pretty tame.
